This movie seemed to have everything to do with highlighting the ridiculousness and hedonism of Hollywood. It's kind of sad to see the protagonist, Alaina, struggle to connect to all these complex characters she bumps into, including Gary, the romantic lead. In the end, she settles for him, having been discouraged by her experiences with an agent, a producer, an actor, a would-be celebrity, and a politician. I gave it 2 stars because the pop-up vignettes put on by these characters do an excellent job of painting a picture of the culture and people in the LA scene. When the main characters finally come together in the end, though, it isn't enough to redeem the sense of loss you feel for the world you've just been thrust in for the last hour +.
