I think there is more to this film than a first viewing presents. There are some very nice ideas and although ultimately it doesn't hang together as a truly great movie, it is worth the effort. Pitt is superb, and although I've never been a fan of his early work, in the past few years he has really been honing his craft and is now one of the best actors of his generation. I get why a lot of people don't rate this movie....it has a kind of depressing vibe throughout. However, that's why I think it works!
