I love this genre! Itโs like the โChose Your Adventureโ books from back in the day. Only, itโs survival horror! If you like horror movies, well, this is an interactive one. The game play is full of monotonous walkthroughs with simple challenges. This can cause you to drop your guard. However, you have to be intensely focused at all times. You never know when youโll be required to participate during action sequences. If youโre not paying attention you will suffer irreversible consequences that influence how the game unfolds. One of the best parts of this game is the inability to rewind and try to correct your gameplay โmistakesโ on your first play through. Trust me, I tried to do it a few times. You canโt fix it! Own it and move on. This restriction creates an intense and invested gameplay experience. A couple things about the game did irritate me. In my humble opinion the 3rd person view is programmed very poorly. This gives birth to frustrating situations when your character encounters enclosed spaces, or very dark places. Also, The speed the characters climb ladders, shimmy ledges, and crawl under things is annoyingly slow. Overall, I loved the game and have enjoyed everything Dark Pictures has put out to date. Who wouldnโt want to play a game where your evading a murderous plot orchestrated by a crazed H. H. Holmes wannabe?
