It was... okay. The premise is that this lady's husband dies during the era of puritan new england and her brother in law tries to steal her farm and so she eventually makes a deal with a forest spirit for help. This gets her accused of being a witch. Death ensues. It was sold as some sort of a revenge narrative and there was just a whole lot of nothing. Nothing happening for the great majority of the book and the payoff for all that wading through the book just wasn't worth it.
It was sold as this "new england horror story about satan, revenge, witches, and cryptids" and just wasn't that. It was a slow burn character study of a woman who doesn't fit in with her community, so she was accused of being a witch and eventually became what they wanted. I think it was meant to be empowering?!? But ultimately it just fell flat for me due to pacing issues and one dimensional villains.
