I almost didn’t finish this book. The ‘heroine’ was totally unlikeable and her actions so unethical that they really disturbed me to the point that every time I picked it up I got more stressed. How could she plunge so deeply into the abyss? I’ve laid down book that didn’t interest me but never before have I laid down a book because of its impact on my stress level! I’m a pretty stable person. I usually binge read books as summertime is my down time. Not this one. I put it away for a week and then picked it up again. The plot began to reveal itself and all was resolved in the end.
My question is that if a person consciously engages in unethical practices does future events make them acceptable? It might be a good read for a master’s class in ethics!
Anyway, a truely psychological thriller with many twists and turns. I’m glad I finished it…but maybe not so glad I started it.
