The books were wonderful! The Netflix series is not. It has way too many side stories that take away from the Bridgerton family, which is fantastic as written. The dresses are overdone (How many HOURS would it have taken to get into those getups back in the early 1800's?) The hair is also ridiculous and unrealistic. Nicola is a beautiful actress, and did her best with the Penelope character, but Penelope was described as plump she she was in her first "season" on the marriage mart, but when she shed her baby fat, she became statuesque. The gowns looked like she was stuffed in as tight as possible, with her breasts pushed up under her chin. I was outraged that the scene where she stumbles across Colin's journal from his travels in Greece was turned into his writing a "porn" story, instead of the fact that she was enthralled with the way he could write so descriptively. Remember how she quoted the line "the water was the exact temperature of bath water after it has cooled for " however many minutes? And complimented his ability to convey that feeling? And how much he hungered for someone to not think him just a handsome man but someone with substance? And we didn't know then that the reason she loved and appreciated his skill with words was because she was Lady Whistledown... Please do yourself a favor and read this book. Except that is a shame to give Julia Quinn any more income from this series, because she has said that she is very glad that it is being changed to be more reflective of current times (Read: WOKE) This book series was complete and lovely in its own right (or write, hah!). Such a sad shame that Netflix and Shonda ruined it for the fans of the books.

I waited 6 years for this! AQP came out in March 2018. Saw it and AQP2 several times in the theater because they were fantastic and I wanted to show support. From the start I wanted to know what happened on Day One, which we got a little taste of in AQP2. I own both of those on Blu-Ray, because they are perfect examples of suspense, story, sympathetic characters, and mystery about the aliens. So disappointed in this movie. Reviewers are not exaggerating when they say "boring, pizza, cat". I wanted to know how the aliens came, how humans figured out it was about the sound, what could the military do, and where were the spaceships? The sounds they were making would have alerted the aliens a million times over. In the first two movies the characters were totally silent (way out in rural areas, BTW!). Such a disappointment after a long wait. So sad for this franchise.
