Four Quartets simply astounded me. I had to spend a lot of time living with it and rereading it. It became a part of me from then on. My words are pale in comparison to Eliot's in this masterpiece of the literary canon. I went on to read more of his poems. I got a recording of Alec Guinness reciting Four Quartets. And to think I bought a small paperback of it on a lark at Left Bank Books in St. Louis' Central West End on the corner of Euclid and McPherson. It may not be your type of poetry, but to all of those willing to sink their teeth into it, I think it will repay the effort many times over and be a work to return to throughout one's life. I still have the well-worn copy of it I bought at Left Bank Books and I keep it near me always.
