A true no-skips album which is a true rarity these days. I’ve been following Rodrigo’s career since High School Musical. Sour was incredible and very influential on the current pop music landscape, but songwriting wise, it still felt like a former-Disney-star album. This album is fun and the songwriting is a complete level up. The break-up songs are still present, but they’re more funny, witty, charismatic, and heart wrenching than the ones on Sour. Every vocal performance is so likable and endearing, and the instrumentals are so sonically diverse that it keeps things interesting the entire album. My highlights are Pretty Isn’t Pretty (a lush and heartbreaking new wave-inspired tune for our social media world) and Bad Idea, Right? which just goes so hard, even on the 30th listen.
