A heartwarming story of a Mother's protective instinct & a Daughter's Love....and one of heartbreak. Mental illness is not acknowledged enough yet by today's society and here we get to voyeur successive generations deal with varying levels and issues of illness.
While it is easy to dismiss this as yet another sob story...this is actually a story of love / triumph / fightback....we each of us have a fight or flight response to intense situations and here the main protagonist gradually shifts from the victim to a survivor.
While Margaret Qualley as Alex plays Her role with apalomb and Andie Macdowell ( Her real life Mother ...they share fantastic chemistry ) unforgettable as usual...all the other leads play their roles to 5 * value, it is Rylea Nevaeh Whittet as Maddy that will steal your heart with Her angelic smile and makes the entire series more than worth it.
From a Gender perspective Ladies will definitely love and identify with this story...however men too have plenty to learn and experience.
A must binge watch, heart warming story of resilience and a relentless pursuit of personal freedom...and yes, finding your balance in the greater scheme of things...
The direction and cinematography is superb...top drawer...Kudos.
Happy Watching...Cheers!
