Thouroughly invested in the whole thing and had actual goosebumps! When was the last time something you watched gave you a physical reaction?
While this show is significant in the dialogue it's created, I want to applaud this show for it's perspective in the third episode with the child psychologist.
As someone who has trained in clinical psychology at in-patient wards, this brought out uncomfortable feelings I've tried to avoid for years as I have since moved into corporate psychology. While the work is incredibly important, working at healthcare and justice systems (referring to the first episode shot in the police station) is incredibly draining. The emotions I saw from the nurse at the police station, the main detective, and the child psychologist really resonated with me. There's moments of fear whether the patient is an adult or a child. To come in to work every. single. day at these wards or at the station takes incredible mental strength. You can never let your guard down, all while applying critical thinking. Takes a unique skill and I applaud everyone that works in the system to help improve lives.
I want to thank the creators of the show for the third episode because it provides such a realistic portrayal of clinical psychology. I wish I had this during uni where I enjoyed studying and learning about it. However, getting experience at wards was something I'd never expected, not even in my NHS training! Its why so many students go in hoping to be Clinical Psychologists (the largest uni cohorts being Psychology) but the country (and parts of the world) have a significant shortage to meet mental health needs.
