What a profoundly moving film. The relationship between the man and the octopus was so touching, no pun intended, streams of tears were gushing down my cheeks. A few years ago I became a vegan after I bonded with our green cheek conure parrot realizing her great capacity for love and affection, something I never expected from a bird. She is also tremendously intelligent. The bond between the man and octopus, therefore, felt familiar and I wanted the octopus to be safe from harm living among so many predators in the kelp forest. Like the man, my respect and admiration for all the wonderful non-humans on this earth keeps growing. Thank you for this exquisite documentary.

I loved how Gerwig deconstructed the story and made it anew so it was fresh and original without deviating much from Alcott's original. It was a joy to behold.
