I love the musical of mean girls but this seriously fell flat in a lot of places. Positives: Gretchen’s acting Renee rapp Damien Janis Kevin G The rocking around the pole reference, and the whole talent show Negatives: All of cadys songs were horrendous. It’s a musical and she has a bad voice and can’t belt? Why cast her? Like in I see stars, it’s meant to be emotive and it was so boring, and she couldn’t even sing, then they replaced her belting parts with other person who could actually sing. Aaron Samuel’s having no singing lines? Especially that they cut it out in someone gets hurt? It kinda made the song not make a lot of sense. Cutting the other parts in meet the plastics was the dumbest decision ever. We learnt nothing about the other 2 plastics at all, especially Gretchen. That intro in the Broadway version really gives her a stronger character. What’s wrong with me had no emotion at all and was not needed in the screen version, because it added nothing. Karen was so robotic, but when she wasn’t it was really good. I loved the actor but the direction of the character wasn’t it. What if was so bad. The fashion of Regina wasn’t it either. It was so Shein. The instruments in apex predator and stupid with love was not it Look, I understand people don’t like musicals, but changing the instruments, making it all head voicey and cady singing with no emotion was so cringe and boring. They modernised it so much it had no emotion and felt lack luster.
