Two things saved this movie, and only two. The score written by John Williams, and the acting of Adam Driver.
Everything else made no sense, was rushed, or had no emotional weight. Occasionally all three.
I've heard the criticism before, but I think it is a valid one: this movie was meant to be a retcon of The Last Jedi more than it was meant to be a continuation of it, and I have to agree.
Was the The Last Jedi perfect? No. But this movie destroyed the parts of it that did make it worthwhile.
I want to know, how anyone thought the "Rise of Skywalker" was a title that fit this movie.
HUGE SPOILERS:
STOP NOW IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT
If all of your Skywalkers are dead and their lives were filled with tragedy and some random girl that you've now declared is the grandchild of said family's oppressor and the series's chief antagonist TAKES their last name, then in no way shape or form is this the RISE of Skywalker. This is the Fall of the Skywalkers.
