Right out the gate, Edge of Fate shows its shift for the new saga, while also dramatically improving their story telling and narrative beats. Unlike previous seasons and campaigns, Edge of Fate fills in the gaps letting new and returning players understand whats going on without necessarily having to understand anything that came before.
While Keplar isn't the most visually interesting location, navigating the world with MatterSpark can be immensely fun (until it isn't), with some aspects of the MatterSpark controls making you want to curl up in a little ball of electricity and explode yourself.
Kepler's level, design and boss battles now feel more like Destiny 1, allowing you to really make use of the subclass variations allowing you to snipe or punch your way through a low of battles with plentiful cover most of the times. The new ammo meter also dramatically changes the way you use heavy ammo as you know when the next brick will come.
While I'm yet to fully explore the new portal and modifiers, it certainly seems to encourage re-playability, with some really fun modifiers like stacking damage for every kill making for some seriously god like runs.
Overall, this feels like a good step forward for the Destiny universe, though content may tire with the long 3 month wait till Ash and Iron. Time will tell, or maybe it won't depending on the Nine's interventions.
