Mr. Blotto (who is “Everybody's Darling” in the Jamband scene from Chicago), hits a home-run with this release. It really highlights the musicianship, writing skills, lyrical substance, energy and audience enthusiasm (even when challenged with performing far from their home-base), and became an instant “Classic” for not only the band’s discography, but also shines amongst many of their archived “bootlegs”.
It further exemplifies their prowess in live, free-wheeling performances where there are no “do-overs”, overdubs, vocal booths, guitar/drum tracking, stringent time/space confinements, etc. It’s the way music is really meant to be experienced/enjoyed (at least in my humble opinion)…
A quintessential “must have” for any previously existing fan of the band, or those soon to be one after their first listen to “Live at the Leaf”. A “bargain” at any price, it’ll give you much more enjoyment than that “what’sahoozit” you’ve been eyeing on Amazon, and for many, many years beyond…
Bravo!
