Warning <spoilers ahead>
The moral of this movie is "It is perfectly fine to accumulate wealth by any means. Just don't get caught."
I mean all the characters in this movie are morally corrupt.
Every character is money mad and bribable except for a Vada-pav vendor.
The movie reinforces the fact that the only way to earn respect in society is to accumulate and flaunt wealth by hook or crook.
I was shocked when the supposed moral compass-the hero's dad, who himself is painted as a victim of a fraud, helps the hero get away with all his fraudulent actions.
The best part is how the hero repents for his illegal actions-he turns in all his fellow fraudsters to legal system and gives away some wealth to his close family and friends as a gift. That is it. All his sins absolved!
My greatest jolt was when the young audiences in the theatre where I was watching the movie kept whistling and cheering for the hero all through the movie especially the second half.
Now these people are ,I suppose, the same online warriors who paid glowing tributes to Ratan Tata only a few days ago.
(Tata is the polar opposite of the protagonist of this movie)
NOW HERE THEY ARE CELEBRATING A CLEVER FRAUD who games the banking system, defrauds the common man and runs away with his booty to a country outside India. SOUNDS FAMILIAR?
2 STARS FOR THE FILM MAKING AND ACTING. BUT THE BASIC PREMISE OF THE MOVIE IS FLAWED AND EVEN DANGEROUS.
