Favorite movie of all time. The acting is spot on. The plot as well as the story behind the story is uniquely intriguing. Just finished rewatching after listening to the interview of the cast on the Exorcist files podcast, and I can't say it enough. This film is a masterpiece.
Not only is it the most theologically sound, in depth analysis I've ever seen on film reminiscent of the screwtape letters, but it keeps you on the edge of the seat the whole time staying up with a conversation between two people in the same room for two thirds of the movie. I dare you to name a single other film that can do that with ten times the budget.
And to all those leaving reviews about how this film is glorifying the power of the devil, pay attention! The whole point of the film is that in the end in spite of everything, the whole plot revolves around the fact that God worked a miracle in saving the main characters life, and stopping the plot of the devil in its tracks. In the end, God's mercy and love is victorious, with a cheesy bit at the end just to stay on brand with low budget thriller.
And to those leaving reviews about how this is far right Christian propaganda, and how abortion is bad, yeah... That's the point, theologically speaking abortion IS MURDER. Nefarious is looking at all of you in that moment and saying "YES, THAT'S MY BOY!" just because you disagree with the point, doesn't make you right, or the movie for that matter any less great.
Happy all souls day and peace out everyone!
