Listen. This movie movie starts strong. A good premise and beautiful color. The cgi can be troublesome for parts however that is forgivable. The major issue with this movie falls within the execution of the plot. Everything leading up to the end allows for a incredible ending with great satisfaction. That being said it fails to accomplish this task. Instead it tries to play some high and mighty “nobody is bad” plot, with an actual serial killer and a normal 14 year old girl. Peter Jackson should have, and could have made the ending one where the killer meets justice but instead allows him to go on with his life for an unknown number of years. If youre looking for a thriller with an adequate plot, skip this entirely. It could possibly be one of the worse movies I have stomached to finish.
