I don't normally write reviews, but I feel like this one deserves it. I wasn't expecting much because I hadn't heard a lot about the movie. In the end, though, I was blown away.
The story is very sweet and beautiful, but at the same time the humour is both great and, at times, very mature. Although it follows much the same thread as How to train your dragon, it is definitely written in a unique way.
I love the characters, especially Maisie. The animation is gorgeous, captivating, spellbinding... the scenes underneath the sea are truly masterpieces.
I used to think Netflix is very disappointing when it comes to animation, a genre that I love dearly, but between this, Wish Dragon and The Mitchells vs. the Machines, I am becoming more and more impressed.
I hope animators and storytelleds will continue to experiment and create new kinds of movies for both kids and adults to enjoy.
I love that these movies are so different from the Disney and Pixar movies that we're used to, yet amazing in their own, unique way.
Definitely watch it if you get the chance ๐
