Jennifer Armentrout is a fraud. “ A Light in the Flame” is full of repetitive chapters that are 100% completely duplicated pages that were in the book before it. I can’t believe this. I thought that this was a third misprint. I have bought this book 3 times now… Returned two Amazon books, because there’s a “known issue” with misprinting her books, and having pages from the prior book be bound into the second book, “A Light in the Flame”. And I went to Barnes & Noble today and got this third version….and AGAIN….it’s like the whole book is exactly identical so far (by chapter 3) as the book before it. This is not simply a “recap”. It’s identical prose … I’ve never seen anything like this. What a ridiculous cheat. I’m on page 33 and I’m reading the same exact words and chapters that were in “A Shadow in the Ember”. I don’t care how good I thought the earlier books were… I’ll never read her stuff again. She is just stealing people’s money and lazily spitting out the same s*** in subsequent books…:(

I’m already frustrated because it took so damn long for this freaking book to come out that in the meantime, I read about 40 other books, including all of Sarah J Maases series, and I’m not interested anymore… mostly because I can’t remember anything from the second book. Why do authors take two years to come out with their next book? I’m already bored. Mostly because it’s like reading a new book with no context… I really don’t want to have to reread the second book just to have context for the third just because it’s been so many years later…. Update: (Down from two stars to one… And it would give it none if I had the option on Google reviews) Onyx Storm is the biggest disappointment I’ve had in a lot of years. I read Fourth Wing about as fast as I’ve ever ever read any book in my life. And same thing with Iron Flame. And then ordered Onyx Storm (which I historically have almost never done… Total waste of money on a hardcover book usually.)….but thought this might be worth it based on the first two books ….and then was bored out of my brain until about page 239 which was already a bummer (per review above)… but thought it must get better….. And just finished it.:.and it’s the worst ending of any book I’ve read in 20 years. Hopefully Rebecca Yarros pulls something out of her ass, because this was a terrible waste of time and money. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
