This is an important piece of history noting the actions of a young girl in defiance of the Nazi death machine. Many lives were saved by simple acts of kindness. I struggled to find an account of the times that resonated with me. I didn’t understand how so many people did nothing to push back against evil. Reading Irene recall her response to what was happening, lit a fire within my soul knowing there were people, everyday people, doing whatever they could to help alter life for innocent humans. Irene’s story is of critical importance to spread. Everyone should read this book, and other survivor stories.
