I have just finished screening this film for the 3rd time, in probably a little over a year or so... and I must say that this time astounded me even more than the previous two times, all three screenings being done in a proper home theater with a nice big projection screen, and a full range very clean dynamic audio system.
It is not unusual for me to doze off while watching this film, and truth be told I wonder if there is a proper way to watch this film.
Meaning, is it ok to doze off, then wake up to the image on the screen which may or may not be relevant to one's dozing off ??
*my own opinion, I think it's ok to do so.....
There is also a sadness to this film, and I really don't know where it comes from, but I definately pick up on it...
As a huge fan of these collaborations between Godfrey and Philip, I had very high expectations of this film Visitors, and I must say that I was not let down.
I wonder now if there is a proper way to watch this film.
Could one have it playing on a big screen in a room with couches, where guests are mingling with one another, and the screen images becomes a part to the gathering ??
Could this be looped and screened continuously in a big crowed place such as Grand Central Station or Times Square - with instead of the soundtrack being played, one listens to the ambient sound around them ??
I for one bet that not only would many people be late to where they are going, a surprising amount would never make it.
I own this film on DVD and consider it a very important part of my film library.
I highly recommend this movie to those who are artists, and who have very open minds, sensitive minds, along with those who have a high level of discipline.
I also want to add that since the WCS was involved with helping make this film a reality, I saw fit to become a member of the WCS, and would encourage others who are deeply affected by this film to do the same.
