Not bad for an indie film. The characters were super interesting, which kept me watching to see what's gonna happen next.

I am a big fan of Gladiator so I was excited when Gladiator 2 came out. Honestly it was just a little silly. My husband and I laughed the whole time at how absurd the dialogue and action was. Joseph Quinn did a good job though, I didn't even recognize him at first until my husband pointed him out. Ridley Scott is still a fantastic director. I'm a fan of a lot of his work. The acting wasn't too great either throughout the film unfortunately. I thought there was too much makeup and the scene where the brothers are having a party, my suspension of belief kicked in, and it started feeling like just a bunch of Hollywood actors playing pretend in togas. As for Denzel--my husband and I were just waiting for him to yell "My man!" Haha he is a great actor but I don't know if he fit the role. The way he joked around and his accent seemed too modernized.

This movie was beautifully made! The first opening scene with the bird flying to the conch music was breathtaking. The book was mostly about Kya, nature, and these 2 young men, and I thought the film captured just that. Sure there are a lot of points to the book but it would be impossible to include all of them in one movie. The actors did a great job. Daisy Edgar Jones did a great job as Kya. The naturistic scenes in the movie were amazing. I highly recommend this film.
