I don't really understand the bad reviews. It was fine, did it's job, kept me watching throughout, provided necessary tension and sense of foreboding, and didn't even disappoint on the monster reveal. I think the best part is the fact that none of the main characters, the family, die. That is an all-too-common horror/monster movie trope, and it's refreshing to see a film that lets our protagonists live. That said, the characters were a bit flat, personality wise, and the daughter's actor, while talented for sure, doesn't seem a good match for the parent's actors. Idk man, they just don't feel like a legit family with natural chemistry. Their interactions weren't too awkward or cringey, but something felt lacking there. Overall, I'd recommend this movie to anyone who wants something decent and relatively fresh to watch in it's genre, and while not standing out together, I think individually these actors are pretty talented and I wouldn't mind seeing them in more films. :)
