The book is a good read. First and foremost, it offers a fresh setting - The Irish background serves very well to the plot. Secondly, the characters are very well written. But at the end of the day the book feels dragged. The plot is quite simpler than you expect it to be. As a reader you expect to uncover more as you read through the chapters but half way through the book this expectation is lost. Experimenting with a different style of narration or making the narrations crisper would have made this a better read.
