I read about Bach months ago but stumbled across this documentary that provides so many more details than I read. I have very strong feelings about what this child did but SHE WAS A CHILD. She should have been in college, not halfway across the world trying to do something she was not trained to do. At least one child is absolutely dead because she did not, for what ever reason, recognize her limitations. Doctors go to school for six to eight years and then they do an internship under other doctors. A doctor and two nurses with medical training couldn't insert an IV, but with a high school diploma, she could? The statement is so arrogant and she doesn't get it. I usually cannot tell when people lie to my face, but her eyes almost disappeared in her head when she talked. If I noticed it, then she was lying through her teeth about one of the children. There is something pathological about a CHILD who would even attempt to do what she did without any medical training what so ever. That's not normal. I'm not willing to make up a mental illness to give her a pass for what she did. Her skin color probably has nothing to do with the decisions she made, but it had a lot to do with the fact that she got away with a slap on the wrist. If she really wanted to serve her god, she could have just stayed in her lane and FED those children instead of trying to treat their illnesses. "She had a nice clean place." In two months, she put fat on starving children. That was her strength, that was a true calling. Why wasn't that enough for her? She went from doing her god's will to becoming a god and she killed at least one baby.

He made a point that burned in my mind, and it cannot be disputed because even JFK made an identical point. "American history is being written in a world where few little boys want to be Indians." "Here is the history we have been told." A sanitized version of the very definition of genocide. In 100 years 90% of indigenous people were slaughtered. And for what? "What are they going to do, eat the gold?" "How can you OWN land? What really got to me are the actual pictures of White rape of brown women, but the story they sold and history they told is very, very different and on its face, is not even logical when you examine the skin color of people all around the world. Now that the lion has a historian, the tale will no longer favor the hunter.

I love the diversity in the show. It is thoughtful and inclusive. The excellent acting and story lines compensate for the weak dialogue, but I hope that they hire better dialogue writers.

This show has no basis in fact and is just an attempt to sanitize history and give an appearance that Black people had opportunity that they did not have. The two Black doctors who inspired the character Dr. Edwards both worked in all Black hospitals with all Black patients. Who really imagines that Black doctors worked on White people in the 1900s? Hospitals were segregated, even in the north until the 1960s. Why do you suppose Charles H Houston died an early death fighting discrimination in medical and law schools? There were only two Black medical schools in the country and Black people could not attend medical school with White students until the 60s, nor could they get an internship in White hospitals, even in the north. They could barely get an internship in a Black hospital which only hired White Interns. If we are going to fantasize about Black professionals in hospitals in this time period, why did we completely exclude Black nurses? There were more Black nurses at that time than Black doctors, because White nurses refused to care for Black patients in the same Black hospitals that only hired White doctors and White interns because the board members were all White.

This is so disturbing. It is one group of people, judging another group of people who do not share their views, while they complain about being judged. This is nothing more than right verses left, Democrats verses Republicans, you must be stupid if you... we already have enough of this garbage circulating. For a second, I forgot I lived in America. I actually expected some thoughtful, inciteful points of view. People have called me the whitest black woman they know, and I'm okay with that because I am not a stereotype, I'm a person. I feel as sorry for the people on this propaganda piece as I do people who still believe that race is a thing and hold on to government assigned labels like badges of greatness. They are WILLFULLY ignorant about history. "I think Black people..." What does that even mean? Skin tone does not define personality. Why would anyone who is advocating individuality ever use those words? I feel damaged for having watched this.

It was a great movie about never giving up.

Empire began as a Black "Dynasty," or "Dallas," but recently devolved into serial Blackploitation. What happened to the music? The show went from inspiring clap-back opera and ballet to bootie shaking and graphic sex scenes. And did they really think they could make it an entire season with Smollett? Andre the CFO is now a felon and cold blooded murderer. His holy roller, no personality wife he settled for is nothing like ride or die Rhonda. Cooke's personality has lost its depth and Lucious has forgotten the loves of his life and has gone full thug.
