I did like the diversity of the movie, truly but the whole thing just didn’t work for me. Everyone’s voices are auto tuned because most of them can’t sing it seems. The jokes fall flat and for some seasoned actors the acting left a lot to be desired. It’s like they rolled all of the most terrible movie cliches into one. I get what they were going for but…they don’t even use their own songs. Nobody wrote anything original except for the town crier who raps like a nerdy 13 year old. Don’t care for that at all. The girl playing Cinderella was pretty good…however even being auto tuned the prince was terrible. I literally stuck my fingers in my ears at some points. He botched Somebody to Love by Queen and Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes! Idina Menzel can sing beautifully and yet what did they make her sing?! Material Girl…freaking Madonna! It was not her best performance by a long shot and I’ve been following her since she started on Broadway years and years ago. I don’t expect the next Grammy award to be handed out to anyone from that movie…or any award at all to be honest. The mice were cute though. I wouldn’t watch this movie again but I do like the progressiveness and diversity of the cast. That I completely agree with and if anyone leaves with anything from this movie I hope it’s that anyone can be a princess and anyone can be a fabulous godmother.
