I simply cannot frame words as to how in awe I’m reading this enchantingly beautiful and magical piece of work by Chitra Banerjee. This being the first book of hers I’ve read, has truly been such a mesmerising experience; to see so closely the life of Panchaali since her birth, through her childhood, from the time she got married to the five Pandava brothers and till the Great War of Mahabharata, ultimately till her last breath. Just how intricately Divakaruni ji has shown her life in this book with immensely accurate details and insights, and brought into its readers’ perspective the majestic world of such an extraordinary piece of Indian history through the eyes of Panchaali is absolutely brilliant. Also Divakaruni ji’s exceptional storytelling brings clearly to our own minds the magnitude of emotions each characters in the book feel throughout the tale.
Overall, this gem of a book is worth a read.
