Don't get me wrong, spiritfarer is artistically beautiful and the first couple of hours I spent playing were emotionally engaging and fun but past that it is extremely monotonous. I'm a completionist so I couldn't stop playing even though I spent so, so many hours just bashing rocks and cutting down trees. The main fault I had with the game though is the dialogue. Why is there sooo much dialogue? Some characters will just rabbit on endlessly and hardly say anything at all and that's not to mention the tiny fonts that gave me eye strain throughout, even on a 55"4k TV. I had to walk right up to the TV to read any of the letters or coordinates. The story pacing is awful and performance on the switch is abysmal, the frame rate drops so low during mini games it becomes almost impossible to do them effectively and that's a problem when the game requires you to do them a lot to progress. If this had been a shorter, tighter, better paced game I know I would have loved it and I could have forgiven a lot of its faults but instead it left me worn out and deeply disappointed.
