Ubisoft is back with yet another great open-world environment, but this time it felt just a little less "Far Cry". The main issues I have with this game are small, but seeing as you have a massive world to explore they become a bit annoying pretty quickly. First of all, they've abandoned the extremely fun skill tree system seen in prior installments. No more exciting action movie esque takedown throwing knives or takedowns from above. The hunting has also taken a nosedive. The uber-realistic skinning animations are now gone, replaced with a simple pop-up as you walk over the animal's corpse. Weapons are hard to find and upgrade, and bases for capture are easily confused with other enemy-occupied areas. One of the largest annoyances comes from a new weapon change, where different ammo types work better against specific enemies. While Far Cry has always been tactical in its approach to combat, this just adds a completely unnecessary step. If you have the wrong type of ammunition, you'll find yourself emptying an entire magazine into an enemy to get the kill. Ammo conversions aside, the time to kill in this game is just stupidly high. While it's a great game to just get lost in and enjoy without much mental activity, you'll find yourself annoyed and confused at many factors, and you'll be left wondering why anyone would play this over Far Cry 3 or 4.
