I am amazed. I have always believed that couples therapy is very problematic. And I remain skeptical about whether many therapists are really good at it. Now understandably there is a lot of screening and editing that goes into this series---fair enough. But overall I am very impressed with how the issues are handled. And all the issues strike me as fairly universal when it comes down to the core problems. Lastly, the icing on the cake is the brief mentor counseling that is also included, sometimes emphasizing the therapists own misgivings and/or ambivalence about the process.
