What is so fascinating about this film(?), is the detailed walk through of what it takes to make a movie. At least from a personal passion perspective. His notion of who he wanted in what roles, how he reached out and 'seduced' stars to be in the roles. A bottle of wine gets you Orson Welles? 3 mins of film time gets you Dali!?! Incredible. But I wonder why, when discussing Lynch's Dune, they didn't notate the replicated Giger set designs. I wonder how much of his work came from the designs submitted to Jodorowsky's film? But moreso, in today's 'we need more black/women/latinx in movies' this talks about the struggle of even making a movie, and the personal passion behind it all. And as he states, "these guy (studio execs) aren't filmmakers, they're accounts." So true, "if we have a female lead, we see an increase of 1.2% in ticket sales." said someone with no passion other than to count money. Must go back and watch Dune now.
