Faith Gabrielle

I grew up with the original Broadway production on VHS and I wore it out as a little girl. I am also a pretty big Taylor Swift fan and was SO looking forward to this. I am so utterly disappointed. This adaptation does not capture some of the most important pieces of the original and it fell so far short. The singing is barely tolerable in parts, it breaks my heart. This could have been such an epic creation! The musical production? Ugh. Taylor's number was good. Jennifer Hudson's number was good. Francesca Hayward was good. Judi Dench was good. And I liked the CGI cats...the ears and tails particularly were fun. The rest? Ugh. I wanted to like it. I really did. I am embarrassed to admit my first crush may have been Rum Tum Tugger and my expectations were high but I wanted to plug my ears at Jason Derulo's interpretation.
