Loved it. Hugely endearing indie ‘rom com’ with a standout performance from Maya Erskine and winning chemistry between the two leads. While it owes some of its stylistic touches to the likes of Garden State, it stands on its own two feet as an intelligent, feel good millennial comedy with surprising depth that even this old Gen X’er couldn’t help rooting for. Five stars.

Great, underrated indie flick about the transition from teenage to the edge of adulthood and the discombobulating challenges of being away from home.with a load of randoms st uni for the first time (whilst simultaneously pretending that you're having the time of your life). This is a lovely, surprising nuanced and life-affirming film.

I've read a lot of the sniffy critic reviews and I question whether they've actually invested the time to watch the film rather than merely judge it on is superficial premise. Beneath the 'sports jock returns home redemption story' beats a deeply dignified and affecting tale about the bonds that tie us together, those that we are born in to and those that we grow, and what it is to be man, a father and a son (regardless of blood ties). The result is a beautiful, gentle and moving film.

Pure Hughes/Carpenter (with a twist of Juno) joy from first to last, elevated by an amazing 80s laced soundtrack and an effortless, charismatic star turn from Lillis. Season 2 ASAP please.

A beautiful, life enhancing film. What cinema was invented for - to introduce you to and make you care about a world, and it's inhabitants that you never knew existed. In a way that makes them feel so like the you that you could have been that it hurts.
