I like the direction but not so much the story, at least the way it's being told. The writers have also decided that Ned (Nick) is going to be the character every emotionally mature person hates because he acts like an emotionally stunted little boy that pushes and pushes due to his insecurities.
He is made to seem like he's intelligent but every thought and decision he makes seems to be that of someone who is childish.
The writers also make Nancy keep things from everyone that are nonsensical just to add immature drama. We won't even go into character development.
The CW is on the cusp of making shows that will appeal to a broad audience yet they seem to forget the rest of us are here and keep aiming at emotionally immature teenagers. Lest we forget that they seem to think that sexually active teenage women will somehow shock us, as if we were never teenagers. I know I make it sound like the show sucks, it does not. The actors themselves are worth watching the show for, the show has a lot of charm, and as I said to begin with a good direction for Nancy Drew.
P.S. To the reviewers complaining about this particular adaptation, the books you read when you were children are adaptations. The original Nancy Drew from 1930s kept evidence from the police in the very first novel.
