I was looking forward to this movie for months. I own the entire Sopranos series and have seen every episode numerous times. This movie, sadly, is probably the worst movie i've ever seen in my entire life. Tony Soprano (and hence his son) are the stars of the show and should be the stars of the movie. His grown, real life son didn't even appear until the second half. Most of the movie centered around the Newark riots which, as awful as they were, had nothing to do with the Sopranos. They were featured again and again and again. Ray Liotta dies early on and then magically reappears not once but 3 times in a story line that was gibberish. Nobody cares about Dickie Moltisanti. He was a dead man during the entire series. We only knew about him from Christopher talking about him. WHat fans want to know is HOW did Tony become Tony? How did he become the boss? We already knew about his relationship with his mother, that was accomplished in the very first season. This mess of a movie, with well-known characters sprinkled all over the place but unrecognizable and without any roles, was absolutely a train wreck. What it ended up proving is that David Chase must have had a LOT of help writing the Sopranos series episodes, because if he wrote this he needs to retire. Pure garbage.
