I watched the movie when I was 5 years old. That was 37 years ago. I hoped for a sequel and there were many unsuccessful attempts to get it off the ground. Thanks to Netflix the Dark Crystal has finally received the treatment it deserves in the form of this prequel series. It is dazzlingly beautiful with meticulous attention to detail and expert world building. The combination of Puppetry with CGI creates a spellbinding spectacle that is extremely unique. There is nothing that looks like this on the market. Its like a breath of much needed fresh air. The story is intriguing, entertaining and exciting. They do tie in the lore from the movie pretty much perfectly while expanding upon concepts that were discussed in the movie. Jim Henson was incredibly creative and produced some of my most beloved and cherished childhood movies. The Dark Crystal Age is Resistance has awoken a deep sense of nostalgia within me and has left me wanting more. Netflix and the Henson company have done the source material great service and deserve a standing ovation for this production. It is my wish that this series does very well for Netflix so that it is renewed for a second season. Lisa Henson has taken her fathers material, which apparently he considered closest to his heart, and truly ran with it. All involved in the production should feel extremely proud of what they have created.
