Let me start by saying that this movie had a lot of potential and was thought out but it fell short and just disappointed. The movie begins with a young Diana competing in some Amazonian triathlon; she’s doing really well and despite all the unexpected obstacles, she’s on the course to win. Just when she is about to win, her aunt comes and stops her causing Diana to cry and scream “but it’s not fair!” This would be the underlying message of this whole movie; that we don’t get what we deserve. In 1984, Diana is a loveless career-oriented woman who is closed off from others and just seems to be going through the motions. Miraculously, her love interest, Steve, has possessed the body of a handsome stranger but as the viewer you’ll see Chris Pike so your not totally confused. It seems to good to be true that Steve would be back and it is. Unfortunately he came back because of a wish Diana made and if she doesn’t revoke her wish she loses her god-like abilities. This is where the disappointment lies. I don’t know about everyone else, but I was mostly excited to see this film because of how cute Diana and Steve were in the first movie but this just fell flat. They tried to do a sort of role reversal where Steve is the one now ignorant of the times and that where the funny scenes where supposed to come in with him trying on clothes and what have you. However, it wasn’t cute and unfortunately that’s mostly because gal gadot was too closed off. There was a lack of chemistry this go around which was what I was excited about in the first place. To top it all off, Steve basically dies again and it’s just kind of pointless and disappointing. I would have liked for there to be more warmth between Diana and Steve and for the movie to center around finding a way for Steve to stay rather than stopping it all from happening in the first place. There were many ways I think they could have used to do this involving the character asteria but sadly they didn’t choose to go that route.
