Very disapointed as I really loved 1000 gecs, and while I can try appreciate just how far this remix album has strung abrasive sound design and really gone all in.. There's just not that many good remixes honestly. At least none that are new that I can happily listen to on repeat like I did with the original project.
The Danny L Harlecore remix had me interested just from the play on his name but it was pretty underwhelming, as was A.G. Cook's efforts. They didn't actually create any hard but still decent-sounding breakdowns. They were just super abrasive. Fall Out Boy is .. well.. Fall Out Boy but the remix they appear on of 800db cloud was actually sounding promising until the last third came in and ruined it.
Almost all remix tracks that weren't released prior to this album had that same problem. A shiny glimmer of hope for some great weird electronic music and then it would be usually ruined with some horrific "drop" that you can't actually vibe to. The only NEW remix that felt better than the original was easily gecgecgec xD just because it has a lot to improve over the original and the artists featured did a pretty decent job filling the track :)
If you are a proper 100 Gecs fan you would have already heard the ringtone and gec 2 U remixes and they're great! But they already came out.. so they stand out from the rest here because there's really not much merit to give to the rest of the tracklist! :(
I'd go as far as to say EVEN THE TWO NEW 100 GECS SOLO TRACKS (exciting!) were actually pretty underwhelming lyrically and sonically. Overall, felt like a waste of 50 minutes and I'm pretty disappointed that this was what was conjured up especially by a lot of the big PC Music names I love like A.G. Cook and Danny!
