SPOILER-FREE
SUPERMAN in one sentence:
The movie is far from perfect, but it's a solid and colorful reboot.
PROS:
- Great cast with plenty of charisma on screen
- Visually impressive (the costumes looked better in motion than I could’ve imagined)
- Best Lex Luthor ever
- I loved the more down-to-earth take on Superman
CONS:
- Could've used more focus and fewer jokes - especially less Krypto
- Hawkgirl (she was basically the goats from Thor: Love and Thunder)
- The whole Kaiju sequence... just, why?
I'm glad James Gunn didn’t aim to deliver the definitive Superman movie right out of the gate. There are lots of exciting ideas here, and I get the sense he's experimenting - even with what doesn’t quite work.
I’ll be watching it again, and again, without a doubt. Judging by all the happy faces in the cinema when I left, I’m confident a lot of others will too.
