This animation was terrible. The script is terrible. The pace, is terrible. And there is not enough expostion on the main characters to care about any one of them.
It's a monster movie without gore. And with the terrible script this "movie" could have been mistaken for an uber long episode on Nickelodeon.
When I say the pace is off I mean, there is no gore, blood, injury, and no one who suffers from injury. The characters get hit but they get right back up to keep fighting; even when smacked by the antagonist, the Elder Dragon; a supposed "Force of Nature" that is in actuality no bigger (and very much similar to) than the common Aragami creature from the Japanese animation Godeater. Without injury, there is no tension or suspense. You find it nearly impossible to get invested in the characters' fight because there is no risk to anyone.
But then suddenly, the characters, when the main fight happens, can get killed. They can't bleed but now suddenly they can be killed. And the end result is a bland "Meh." It's like I said, there was not enough exposition on any of the characters so it's no big deal when they perish. And if I'm being truly honest, these cats paws guidelines the animation company adopts hinder the potential of concepts, like this monster hunter game to video experience, tremendously. If you're going to make a monster movie, then make the movie. But if not, then label it rated-E for everyone and call it a day.
