Every crook wants to get his hands on the evidence to dispose or alter it. So, what evidence do we have that the changes in this translation are not just that?
I am aware of none. In fact, the evidence suggests to me the former. First, reviewers tell us that the translators are not identified in the work---this makes me feel highly suspect of the work. It is suggested by reviewers who support the work that the translation was performed by a committee of persons who , except for one, received no education beond high school and that person never graduated, even with a bachelors degree---again, my suspicion rises as most reliable translators hold PhD's or the equivalent and have spent their careers in publicly-verifiable biblical research-having studied here or there, having worked on this and that, over such a period of time as to give one confidence that they are both expert and reliable. FInally, other renderings produced by real bible scholars (KJV, RSV, NAB, Jerusalem Bible, etc) are not acknowledged as even possibly correct in any conflicting regard. This defies reason in my view as it suggests an ad-hoc, uneducated committee did a perfect job of correcting tens of thousands of hours of work by better scholars over decades of effort and that, incredibly, this ad-hoc version happens to end up exactly supporting precisely those teachings of the JW faith that differ from that of Christianity (JW's are not members of Christianity and will tell you that themselves). Maybe it's a miracle- something on the order of a team of monkeys randomly striking typwriter keys and suddenly producing one of Shakespear's plays. Or maybe it;s a crook, tampering with the evidence. Which do you think is more likley?
