The show is aptly named..as you could never fool me into watching this again. Even once I managed to overlook some notable plot holes, the resolution was so atrocious that I genuinely thought it had to be a false summit of an ending. The main plot pieces barely fit together, and some of the connecting details are so poorly threaded it’s laughable. (ie a man’s location is identified by a single photo Maya shows to her brother-in-law, who magically is able to identify the exact building he lives in by the background view). SPOILER WARNING Like WHO is the shadowy figure standing outside Maya’s house at night? WHAT is the point of the coach’s kid falling off the roof? WHY was Shane sitting in her house alone when he called Maya to ask to hang out, putting a tracker on her car, and WHY did he sneak into her house and literally carry her baby away if he was a good guy the whole time? AND WHAT does the 1/2 brother have to do with literally anything? Completely pointless plot point that has nothing to do with the story and goes nowhere. I’d go on…but this show already wasted too much of my time.

I’ll watch most any hero/villain movie for the fun factor, but this was awful. A prime example of getting so distracted attempting to over-deliver on female empowerment that it fails to contrive anything of quality whatsoever. The only thing this movie doesn’t fail at is attempting to define every moment as an antithesis to traditional patriarchy, but the irony is it would’ve been far more successful had it just centered on the unique talents and abilities of an already well-known infamous heroine. We like Harley, we accept her for who she is. Frankly this film undermines her power in portraying her like an insecure beta desperately trying to prove to herself and others that she isn’t. Instead, just let her be the badass alpha she was meant to be.
