So, Mahesh Babu should retire already, cause apparently he cannot do good movies anymore. Just like Vijay in Tamil, he too does the same one man army roles over and over with the same tropes and meaningless punch dialogues. Sadly both of their good looks are their worst enemy and as a result they cannot do different kinds of roles. What's worse is that they are unable to find good stories. As usual, there is very little on the offer in the movie for the female lead. These days it has become a trend for writers to find some hot topic and try to write a story around it. And in this case it is about bank loans & recovery and how there is a difference in the way commoners and powerful people are treated by banks and loan recovery agents. The Director wants to awaken the society in general with his story but the movie fails to deliver on many levels.

I am starting to dislike Karthik Subbaraj. Not that I liked him before. I think Jigarthanda is the only movie of his I don't have any complaints about. Rest all have poorly written, half cooked ideas one after the other. Vikram and Dhruv shine in this one, while Bobby is as usual good at what he does. I am not sure the director is fully satisfied with the product. If he is, then I guess this is as good as he is gonna ever get. I am not sure who is rating the movie so high for it have such a high IMDB rating. The story is surreal and Karthik here is trying to create a world and trying to set a tone for the movie. Which is fine and all, but it drags at many places and the dialogues are shabby too. There are two ways to write dialogues, you can either write cinema dialogues or everyday real life dialogues. You can't combine both. It felt as though I was watching a 5 hour long movie. The same goes for the background score as well. It was good but didn't fit the scenes all that well. I am not sure where he goes from here.

With all due respect to Rajinikanth he should stop doing movies. This movie was like some C grade movie with boring story and worse screenplay. There was literally nothing good about the movie, not comedy, not action, not drama, nothing. Everything seemed too forced and trying too hard but with no effect. Director Siva got the opportunity of a lifetime and failed to deliver.

If I hadn't watched Asuran first and knew the plot before hand I would have still given it a 3 star rating at best. The scene by scene remake kind of makes you automatically compare the performances with the original. Venkatesh has always been a great actor. Same goes for Priya Mani. She just blends in to the character so well. Today's audience has access to movies of every language through OTT platforms. As a result of which remakes seem totally unnecessary.

The concept although good, the execution is very sloppy. I don't know Vishal has done so many of these mediocre movies, despite being a good actor. What's crazy is this movie is produced by himself. The movie has too many flaws. Regina's face has no expressions, feels very plastic. They have Robot Shankar and yet not many lines for him. Vishal is doing too many similar roles and it is kind of getting boring.
