The movie was actually very good aside from all the scenes in which the film grinds to a halt so Guillermo Del Toro can tell the audience that this film is about 𝓢𝓸𝓬𝓲𝓮𝓽𝔂. The scene where the main antagonist goes home and has unfulfilling sex with his wife is a particularly glaring example of this.

It's really good. The character development is probably the best I've seen on any TV show ever. The animation is also great, same with the worldbuilding, and the vocal work, and the dialogue, and the storyline, and the soundtrack, and the pacing, and the editing, and the backgrounds, and the colouring, and the art design, and the jokes, and the tiny little details that fans only pick up on after rewatching an episode multiple times, and the - You know what, this might just be the greatest TV show of all time. Five stars!

My favourite movie. Nearly every single frame would work as a still photo. The first film that even came CLOSE to matching the quality of the visual effects was A New Hope, almost an entire decade later. The story, while abstract, is told in a way that really allows one to reflect on what they're watching, which in turn causes them to reflect on the themes of the film such as human progress, the existence of God, and our place in the universe. You could make a religion outta this sh*.
