One thing positive about this book was that CB did not involve himself in the story. Safe to say I got interested from the very first page. I am not really into murder and detective type books as I find them too confusing IDK why. I have read a few Agatha Christie works and have read the Cormoran Strike series, and i kinda found the plot too similar to "The Cuckoo's Calling". Girl dead, presumed suicide, eye on the wrong suspect all along, sibling rivalry, neighbours hearing screams, police inspector not letting them work and the last revelation as to who was the killer and the jealousy factor: it was all the same, gosh even the food obsession was also there.
Talking about the book, It actually does not give you any hint about who is the killer until you read it to the very last. So all in all, the script was very well thought, though the character build again was not deep-a problem I've been getting in all the CB books I've read till now, except one Indian Girl and Five Point Someone, but all in all, i'll say this is a one time read and a nice book. Maybe you'll get disappointed over the family secrets and all the melodrama, but overall you can give it a go.
Also, it kinda feels weird thinking how Keshav suddenly becomes Saurabh's "bhai" when he calls him after the death of Prerna.
The book can be made into a movie.
