I had to force myself to watch the first two episodes. I thought they were technically well-crafted, but they seemed to reproduce everything about early sitcoms but the humor. They were like a homework assignments, or a museum exhibit of an artist you don't like. You could appreciate the talent, but not really enjoy the work. But then came E3, which in the closing minutes changed the whole tenor of the show - and it has been uphill since. Now waiting for the show is panful, watching it isn't. I really don't want to write more until the season is over, because I have a feeling it will be like "The Usual Suspects", where the entire story looks different in light of the ending. Or like "Babylon 5" where moments in the pilot and background action in the first season planted seeds that wouldn't pay off until the end of season 5. I think even the first two episodes are going to turn out to be better in surprising ways when we watch the whole series through the second time.
