While this game does have some bugs, it was still a very immersive and had a well realized story, with great voice acting, visuals, and world design. While itโs not a perfect game, Iโve found that many of the negative reviews Iโve read were written with false information, likely before the reviewer actually played the game, or without really experiencing what the game had to offer.
That is the big caveat with Cyberpunk. This is a very big world and it takes a while to really get into it. The intro alone takes anywhere from 3-7 hours, with side quests strewn around the area potentially lengthening that time. These and future side quests are a big focus of the game, and much of the gameโs best moments happen either in these side quests, or after theyโve been completed. They greatly effect the main story, but are also really great on their own, but if youโre looking for a more main story focused game that can be completed quickly, all wrapped up in a neat little bow, this probably isnโt the game for you.
Finally, I saw a lot of complaints about the combat. Most of these complaints are likely the results of misleading marketing. Cyberpunk does have good combat, but itโs not call of duty, and needs to be approached a little differently. This game is an RPG first and foremost, and the progression of your characterโs combat abilities is tied to your level and gear. In the beginning getting into shootouts, fighting with melee weapons, and stealth all feel a bit off, but thatโs mostly fixed as you level up and get perks related to whichever approach you prefer. You donโt start as a badass mercenary with tons of abilities right off the bat, but if you invest in the right perks and get (or build) the right gear, youโll certainly become one.
Overall this is a great game, but some misleading marketing and bugs at launch (most notably on consoles) set it up for failure. Despite these issues, the game is really fun if youโre willing to put in the time, and does a great job of telling an emotional story.
P.S. Some of the glitches and bugs can also be really funny if youโre willing to accept that theyโre there. Maybe itโs juvenile, but I find the random t-posing civilian once every few hours kind of entertaining.
