This is a great realistic, and to the point documentary series, emphasizing the power of being seen and supporting each other throw doom and gloom of a mental condition, consists of 5 episodes, of people’s experiences and narrations and a complementary episode in the end to wrap it all up and draw a path to move forward from.
The producers, David, with his personal experience of grieving for her mother, Diana, and Oprah, by sharing her personal experience of emotional abuse in her childhood and her support system now available for about 200 teens in college, are only part of this magnificent, humane, vulnerable and honest narrative of the reality of “Human condition” and “being a person, not the diagnosis”.
Oprah mentioned a significant point in episode 6, that is really a key not only to the therapeutic process itself, but also for the interconnection as a global community: “Over and over again through the series I heard the experts refer to the power of connection and how having just one person in your life who cares about you and sees you can make all the difference.”
So, if you are a mental health activist, or a “human”, and considering the worsening situation of humanity in general, this is a must to watch this series and become part of the club.
