It gives you a feeling of childlike wonder but as soon as you take it for a 3 act screen play rather than just another holiday happy film, it's just not very good. From it's protagonist who has little if no flaws and even less development, to "buddy 3000, a robot that as an object has value to the story but not enough to take up as much of the movie as it does, making it feel more like a self promoted product placement than a memorable character. Then there's the old inventor, who has some memorable and genuine character development, even though it's another "kid is sent to learn from hero but hero is cinical and washed up" trope. In the end, it's eye candy plot wise and visually with stunning choreography and lighting and some damn good candy as that. But as son as you take a closer look the only well developed/original parts end up being a tiny vilan and a genuinely well written old man
